May Day Fest

Costs:$25/family (paid 2 weeks in advance), $35/family (after)

Length of Time: The event will begin at 11am and last at least until 3pm, so come and go as you wish.

Class Description

Traditionally May Day is celebrated around the world as the festival of

Happiness, Joy and the coming of Summer!
Come all ye lads and lassies
Join in the festive scene
Come dance around the maypole
That will stand upon the green.

The earth will be lush, green and blooming. Let us rejoice together in the wonder of the season and enjoy the company of our Camp Tonkawa friends.

FUN THINGS THAT ARE PLANNED:

  • Dance the ribbons around the May pole - 1 o'clock
  • Learn the festival's world wide celebrating traditions
  • Sing-A-Longs
  • Wildflower Walks
  • Birds of our Area ID
  • Insect Hunt
  • Animal Petting Area (Cherokee may even have her foal by then!)
  • Pony Rides
  • Crafts
  • Pot Luck Lunch *Please bring a large portion of one of your special recipes to share with everyone.
  • Sharing *If you have anything to share it would greatly be welcome and appreciated. ie: an outdoor activity, stories, your musical talent, a game, etc.

So bring out your dad to show him the camp or your brother, sister, aunt, uncle, grandparents. RSVP the number in your family so that we can adequately prepare.

Sorry no dogs allowed. This will be an alcohol free family event.
